I'm sure you remember Friedman's on 21st Ave? I stopped in the other day and boxes upon boxes of blankets and duffles like the ones above...$15!

always stop there when I'm in town.
Gotta say, I become more and more disappointed with the general merchandise. I have memories of that place as a kid. My mom taking me there for Duckhead Kahkis, etc.
But they still have some good surplus selections. There was a German or Dutch military parka there on my last visit, but too large for me...
That place is an institution though. You know of any other good surplus stores around nashville? Or even outside nashville? You ever taken a drive out to Hohenwald, TN? Time forgot that place. And Columbia, TN has an amazing, I emphasize amazing, outdoorsmen's store. Havent been in a few years, but that place is filled with deadstock. Thinking about it makes me wanna go pronto...

Yea, the selection has definitely had a major downfall over the years. They pride themselves on a lot of carhartt now, but it's nothing you can't find anywhere else really.

Like you said, the surplus items are where the real treasures are. I normally find a really nice parka, jacket, or shirt but its never fit right.

The only other surplus store that I've been to the past few years where I found some interesting things was a place off of I440 on Nolensville Road next to the Fairgrounds. I don't even know if it's still open to be honest.

I've been to Columbia but I've never checked that place out. I'll definitely have to mark a reminder on that.
